During tough economic times, it can be difficult to afford to spay or neuter your pet.  Because of the tragedy of pet overpopulation, we at TAILS think spay/neuter is very important.  That's why we've expanded our low-cost spay/neuter program:  to help more pet owners get their pets spayed or neutered!

  • All surgeries are performed at the TAILS Humane Society Vet Clinic, 2250 Barber Greene Road, DeKalb, IL   60115.
  • Surgeries done by appointment only.
  • Pets should be dropped off at TAILS in the morning and picked up later the same day.
  • Pre-anesthetic bloodwork is strongly recommended for dogs aged 7 years and older but bloodwork is available for any animal for an additional fee.
  • Please wait at least two months to schedule a spay if your female dog has shown any signs of being in heat. Keep in mind that the female is most fertile the two weeks after discharge stops.

Low-cost vaccinations and microchips are available for $15 during surgery appointments.

Fee schedule:

TAILS Tales

Cami

My son and his family just adopted a Beagle puppy mix named Cami!  She has been so very good and they are delighted.  Katie spent a long time with them helping them get started on the right foot to ensure a permanent home for Cami and a good experience for her human family.  They look forward to a long and happy life together.  Cami recently spent time at our house visiting and she played with our Tails rescue dog, a 15 year old Dachshund named Daisy.  They must have known each other were from a shelter because they had an instant attraction.  A joy to watch them both.
