TAILS PROGRAMS

Adoptions

Find your new best friend at TAILS Humane Society! We have many adorable adoptables waiting for their forever homes. Whether you're a cat fancier, a dog lover, or you have a place in your heart for the feathered or the small and furry, think of TAILS first. If we can't fill that spot in your life with one of our adoptables, we'll provide you with information about other pet resources where you can adopt responsibly.

Dog Obedience Classes
Is Fido pulling on the leash? Is Sparky a little too spunky? If your dog or puppy is sometimes a bit difficult, TAILS obedience classes can help. We offer positive reinforcement training for dogs of all ages and levels. Call us - we'll help you communicate with your canine companion.

Wild TAILS Wildlife Rehabilitation Center
If you've found a baby bird whose nest didn't survive the latest storm, a litter of raccoons whose mom has died or a hawk with a broken wing, Wild TAILS is the place to call. We'll give them all the TLC they'll need so that they can eventually be released back into the wild.

Pet Identification

Every dog, cat, puppy and kitten adopted from TAILS has a microchip, a permanent form of identification, implanted just under the skin on its neck. Thousands of dogs and cats arrive at shelters every year with no identification. Without a name, address or phone number, there's no way to know where the animal belongs. TAILS offers low-cost microchip clinics to the public the last Saturday of every month at a cost of $25/chip and sells several forms of wearable pet identification.

Pet Lost & Found Service
Few things are more heartbreaking than the loss of a family member. If you've lost a pet, check our LOST AND FOUND PETS page and enter information about your lost pet. TAILS works with other area animal welfare organizations to provide a central pet "Lost and Found" service to facilitate the quick return of lost pets.

Low-cost Spay/Neuter
The tragedy of pet overpopulation exists in our community as it does throughout the country primarily because of the number of unaltered pets that produce litter after litter of puppies and kittens without homes. TAILS is committed to doing everything in our power to eliminate the needless euthanasia of unwanted dogs and cats. We make it a high priority that all of our dogs and cats are spayed or neutered before being placed up for adoption. Our low-cost spay/neuter program is available to all pet owners regardless of income or residency.  Click here for more information.

Humane Education
Few things are more important to TAILS than education. There is no better way to address the root causes of pet overpopulation than through tours, presentations and training seminars. We offer programs for all ages. Make TAILS your education destination!

Pet Care and Behavior Advice
Caring for a pet is an extremely rewarding experience: however, everyone gets frustrated by their pet now and then. Introducing a new pet into a home presents its own set of challenges. The vast majority of these concerns can be easily solved with a little advice from the pros. Before you even think about giving up your pet, call us first and ask to speak to one of our trained staff members. We've heard it all, and we're ready to help!
